25th Hour

Spike Lee Director
40 Acres 2002

25th Hour — Spike Lee, 2002 Shot in New York City in the immediate aftermath of September 11th, 25th Hour was the first film to address the event directly — a fragile moment in the city's history that demanded careful handling. The central design challenge for production designer James Chinlund was weaving that visual and emotional reality into the fabric of the film without disrupting the flow of the narrative. For Chinlund it was also his first collaboration with Spike Lee — a filmmaker whose work had been a formative influence.
